Our Father Michael was born in 1935 in the main house ("Hoisenhof, picture top right). Through a lot of hard work as a lumberjack in his early years, he was able to found the construction of the pension "Fichtenhof".
In 1966 he married our mother Hilda, born Klingler, who came from a place called "Steinhof" in Thierbach. Hilda worked in gastronomy all her life long.
This marriage produced 4 children:

Business History:
1964: Start of construction of the pension "Fichtenhof" – which was
ridiculed by the people in the valley as there was no driveable
road to Thierbach at this time..
1966: Opening of the pension and start of our experience in
gastronomy
1974: Start of construction of the hotel "Almhof"
1976: Opening of the Hotel "Almhof"
1980: The family purchased the mountain pasture "Koberalm" in
Auffach
.
1981: Modernisation of our farm through new, additional buildings
1990: Take-over of the establishment by son Herbert
1994: Construction of a new stall at our mountain pasture
"Koberalm".
2000: Overall refurbishment of our main house "Hoisen"
2002: Major alterations to our Pension "Fichtenhof", which made it
an "eco-friendly" house.
2005: Installation of a modern bio-mass heating system: facilitating
the use of renewable wood from our own forests instead of
heating oil. This is important for us as an environmentally
friendly enterprise.
2009: After the tragic death of our brother Herbert through an
accident, our sister Andrea Gruber takes over the leadership
of the hotel with her family.
2011: The complete renovation of our hotel bathrooms is completed.
Another step towards quality improvement for the benefit of our guests is done.
Future:
The next steps going forward will be to improve comfort and quality in our main house. |
